If you need data on residential real estate in Australia, Residz is the place to start.

We’re already the go-to online platform for free property reports for each of  Australia’s 12 million individual addresses, but we’re so much more than that. Taking a fresh approach to property research in the growing proptech space, we’re continually collating, curating, and making sense of millions of pieces of data on real estate in Australia.

One dataset that will be immediately helpful for buyers is the easy access ‘data snapshot’ of every suburb and region in Australia.

This suburb data is helpful if you’re house hunting for your first home, looking for an investment, considering a tree or sea change, or are curious about your own neighbourhood.

How to find data on my suburb

Using the ‘location’ tab in the search engine of Residz, simply type in the suburb or region you want data on. Within seconds you will see the boundaries of the suburb in question, how many homes are in the suburb, information on the real estate market outlook, types of housing in the area, investment potential, and a lot more.

Real estate listings and house price data

Residz tells you which local government area (council) the suburb or region is in and how far it lies from the central business district and the coast. Properties for sale in the suburb are listed, and each listing takes you directly to the relevant advertisement on the real estate agent’s website.

Scrolling down the page you’ll be given a list of recently sold properties, the date they sold, and the price they sold for.

Crime rates in my suburb

While you’re on the suburb information pages you can check out the local crime rates. These outline the trends in such things as incidents against justice procedures, incidents of assault, incidents of disorderly conduct, drug offences, homicide, malicious damage to property, robbery, sexual offences, and theft. Plotted on a graph, the trend lines are able to be compared with the state average.

Average climate in my suburb

The average local climate by month is set out in an easy-to-read chart format. This is important if you are buying a home out of your state, as the climate may be vastly different to where you currently live. It’s important to know how liveable the suburb you’re buying into is at the peak of summer and the depths of winter.

Internet options in my suburb

Internet speed is more important than ever with more householders working from home, or running their own online businesses. Residz provides the options available in each suburb and lists them out so you can compare the offerings.

Nearby suburbs

Finally, the 10 or so nearest suburbs are shown to help you explore an area thoroughly. If you are looking to buy outside areas you’re familiar with, this is helpful to find suburbs that suit your circumstances and price range.

Zooming in on homes in the suburb

Once you have information on a suburb, you might like to explore individual properties more closely. Residz has a wealth of data to give you a better understanding of an area.

By typing in a specific address on the search bar, you can learn more about individual properties around the whole of Australia. Try it and see!

Within seconds, and completely obligation and cost-free, you can get average house prices, information on potential bushfire risk and flood, subsidence, and contamination risk, crime trends, local development applications, investability scores, local shops and services, and options to let sellers know you’re house hunting in their area.
